Kiss Up in a Brewery: Smoochin' on the Back Seat at Starlite, the World's First Urban Drive-In

Pucker up people! This summer sees the the world's first Urban Drive-In set to launch in July at East London's Old Truman Brewery before going on a UK tour. The lovely guys at Starlite have cleverly adapted the technology from their Silent Cinema project - where cinema goers listened to movies on headphones like at a silent disco - so that soundtracks can play through car radios, allowing drive-ins to take place in densely populated areas for the first time. With their partners, Volvo, stumping up a selection of pre-parked cars, all equipped with surround sound systems, even those of us without a driving license can join in (and you can drink as you won't have to drive home!). This super exclusive event is already shaping up to be a summer blockbuster; following the launch party on 1st July, there will be two screenings - Twilight on Friday 2nd and Grease on Saturday 3rd. Movies start when the sun goes down at 9.20pm but doors open at 7.30pm so you can go down early to soak up the atmosphere, grab some dinner nearby - the Brick House will be doing a special menu for moviegoers - and collect your tickets from the venue before choosing your car (seats are not allocated). At £25 each, the tickets are fairly priced given this isn't just any old cinema trip (btw have you seen the prices of Leicester Square cinema tickets recently?? OUCH * and * they don't have roller skating waitresses, unlike Starlite), this is a boutique experience that's guaranteed to be good for the soul as well as the planet given Starlite is totally carbon neutral. Tickets go on sale from 1st June via Ticketweb and, with only 20 cars available per screening, you'll need to be fast if you want in on this. Visit their website and/or join their facebook group for the most up to date information and future tour dates. www.starliteurbandrivein.co.uk
